The Memories

Richard Wayne Mullins
October 21, 1955 - September 19, 1997

I hope I would leave a legacy of joy - a legacy of real compassion.

While "Calling Out Your Name" remains a webpage to celebrate the life and music of of Rich Mullins and not to dwell on the sorrow we feel for his death, this portion seeks to recognize the enormous impact that Rich made on so many people. In response to his death, the webpage received over 2,500 email messages. They expressed sadness at the loss of a great musician, a great Christian, a great man, and a great friend. Others expressed joy that Rich was better off and gratitude for the music and message that he left us. And many others offered consolation for Rich's friends and family. Together, the messages represent a remarkable testimony to the personal influence Rich had in the lives of millions. From reading them, it becomes clear that although Rich could sell lots of records and write CCM hit songs, the true value in his music was the effect they had on his listeners.

Presented here are thousands of the messages received. They have been reformatted, printed out in a memorial book, and delivered to members of Rich's immediate family and closest friends. They are offered in both as a part of the webpage and in a text format, which can be downloaded and opened in any word processing program.
