RichMullins.Com
Updated November 24, 1998

At long last the fight for richmullins.com is over.

For quite a while, Kid Brothers had been wrangling with the person who originally registered the richmullins.com domain with plans to turn it over to Kid Brothers, but then welched on the deal. For several months, the site was used for a personal agenda, and Myrrh's official Rich Mullins Web Site had to use the alternative site http://richmullins.madbear.com (which, by the way, still points to the current site).

The Official Myrrh site (which primarily promotes The Jesus Record) can now be found at it's new home, http://www.richmullins.com.

Negotiations for the domains richmullins.org and richmullins.net, were delayed for short time, but also now belong to Rich's estate, and they also point to the correct RichMullins.com site.

JAM Photography

Another web site you really need to see is Jonathan Meyers gallery of pictures he took of Rich right before the Summer '97 tour. Jonathan and I visited at length last fall about the possibility of doing a web page, but it never worked out. I'm glad he finally got one, so you have access to his pictures. They are wonderful. You've already seen Jonathan's work on the cover of the "Homeless Man" video.

His site is at http://www.jamphotography.com

The Rich Mullins Gallery includes pictures and commentary on the photo shoot and visit with Rich. You also have the opportunity to purchase some of the pictures. A portion of every sale of the Rich Mullins photographs is being donated to the Storehouse ministry, an ecumenical Christ-centered ministry serving the homeless and working poor of the Albuquerque area.

Prince Of Egypt

In reference to the previous post concerning "My Deliverer" being recorded by DC Talk for Steven Speilberg's upcoming movie, Prince Of Egypt - it appears that the song may not appear on the official soundtrack. However, there are some other recordings being made in conjunction with the movie. DC Talk will be part of an inspirational recording, and therefore we can only assume that "My Deliverer" will be part of that. For more info see http://www.princeofegypt.com/en/music/htmls/g_dctalk.html.

Rich Mullins @ Parable.com

Parable Christian Stores, the Christian industry's largest association of independent retailers, has launched an E-Commerce website at http://www.parable.com, which includes a Rich Mullins feature page at http://www.parable.com/feature/mullins/home.htm. This site includes real audio and video and also has images you can download to use for wallpaper on your PC.

"My Deliverer" Number One

No surprise here, "My Deliverer" hit number one on CCM's Adult Contemporary chart last week, and now continues into it's second week at the top spot. See the CCM Update Online at http://www.ccmcom.com/ccmupdate/98_08_10/charts.html#ac. If you page down on the CCM Update Online chart page, you'll see that "My Deliverer" has also cracked the Inspirational Top 10, and The Jesus Record is currently the second highest Christian Retail Top-Selling Album.

Dear Danl,

I thought fans of Rich everywhere would appreciate hearing about another up-
and-coming Christian artist, Andrew Peterson, who was strongly influenced by
Rich. His profound lyrics and beautiful music definitely mark him as someone
to watch. Since he can explain himself best, I would recommend checking out
his web page at

http://www.andypeterson.com/index.html

I was privileged to see (and meet) Andy in a mini-concert on Monday, July 20,
at Metro Bible Study in Houston. His humility and love of Christ really shined
through all during the evening. He performed three selections, plus a closing
song after the Bible study portion. Two of these particularly stood out in my
mind: a song called "Arizona," recording his first impressions of the Grand
Canyon, and a tribute to Rich, "Three Days Before Autumn" (referring to the
fact that Rich died on September 19). Andy's tribute was particularly
meaningful to me because he admitted that he never really knew Rich, never got
to say to him all the things he would have liked. I think all of us who "knew"
him without "knowing" him can identify. The song expressed so many of the
things that have been in my heart since last September, which I had no words
to express. The words are available on Andy's page under "unpublished
lyrics"-- it didn't make it onto his first CD.

I met Andy afterwards by his CD table and had the chance to thank him for a
beautiful evening, and particularly for the tribute song. He impressed me as
having the same self-effacing, people-loving personality as Rich. Andy is
living proof that Rich's influence will remain on Christian music, even while
"the angels are dancing around / to the music that I want to hear." (from the
tribute song)

Your sister in Christ,
Vivian :o)

Quick update on Andy. First of all you can hear a clip of the very excellent song "Three Days Before Autumn" on the Awakening Compilation II CD web page, where you can also purchase it. That CD also happens to have the Mitch McVicker cut, "One Of These Days."

The other big news is Andy, and his wife, Jamie just had a baby boy, Aedan, last month, and he was born on Rich's birthday (10/21/98). Very cool. Congrats Andy! Here's a note Andy posted to his message board.

Well, you guys know the big news already, but l figured I'd do like mac
said and brag a little. We had no idea when Rich Mullins' b-day was, but
I called a buddy to tell him Jamie was in labor and he said that it was
10/20, so we thought it would be neat, so as the clock ticked toward
midnight, jamie pushed harder and harder (not just the rich thing,
obviously--she mainly just wanted the little bugger to get OUT...).
Well, we missed the 20th by 22 minutes, and found out the next day that
my buddy was misinformed--Rich's b-day is the 21st! Pretty ironic. I
know it don't mean a dang thing, but it makes me stop and think, anyway.
Mac spelled the name wrong. His name is Aedan Judah Peterson--Aedan from
the book "Byzantium" by Stephen R. Lawhead about the Irish monk, St.
Aidan, and Judah after a close Burmese friend of Jamie and I who
preaches and teaches the gospel in Burma. The baby's good. He's a
handsome guys with LONG fingers. He can almost hold a bar chord already.
Jamie's doing well, too, though the birthing process does some painful
and strange things to a woman's body, so keep them both in your prayers.
My only complaint is that I can't sleep until noon every day anymore,
but I'll get over it. :) God is so much better to me than I deserve, and
through little Aedan, God's given me a greater capacity to grasp that.
You guys should all have a kid sometime. It's an intensely joyful thing.
I never knew I could love this much. --Andy - 01:06:09 10/26/98
