Hello Rich Fans,

After spending a couple days catching up on stuff, I'm finally back. In this post I would like to address the following topics and questions.

Update on Mitch

Thanks and appreciation to all of you who have been praying for Mitch. Earlier this week, Mitch was upgraded from serious to fair condition, and began extensive therapy. He has improved enough that tomorrow he is going home to Topeka (which will definitely make things a little easier for his family, who have of course been away from home this whole time as well), and is transferring to a rehabilitation facility there. Though the doctors are very optimistic about full recovery, there is still a very long road of therapy and recovery, as recovery for this type of injury can be very slow. I do not know if Mitch yet knows about Rich, but would guess probably not.

Prayer Requests

First a prayer of thanksgiving for the doctors, nurses, therapists, and all those at St Francis, Peoria - also all the people of Peoria for their support for Mitch and his family during their stay.

Continue to pray for Mitch's family and now the doctors in Topeka as they take over the task of bringing Mitch to recovery.

Rich Mullins Memorial Book

I will continue to receive messages for the memorial book through Wednesday night, October 8th, and then the entire contents will be printed out and fowarded to Rich's family. The memorial book will, however, remain available for viewing through the end of October.

In case you're new to the mailing list, or haven't yet sent a message, the memorial book page was set up for those who would like to post a message of grieving, thanksgiving, remembrance, or condolence, concerning Rich's passing. .

Behold the Man, Zion

I continue to receive requests for information on availability of Rich's very first recording, "Behold the Man" by Zion. This recording, available on vinyl only, is now out of print, and as mentioned in a previous post, is extremely difficult to find. There was a time when I had a few copies, but they are gone. At this point, I can only recommend contacting the usual resources for rare and hard-to-find recordings - local used CD/Record shops, online resources like RadRockers, etc.

Don't forget, for more information on Zion and the recording itself, see Brian William's Discography entry for Behold The Man at http://www.kidbrothers.net/btm.html.

Wichita Memorial

As you can see, I still haven't written a review for the Wichita Memorial. The time required to maintain this mailing list and the volume of mail I still receive since Rich's passing (not to mention my day gig) have prevented me from finding the time. I still intend to do so, and beg your patience. I did want to let everyone know, however, that Light 99 does intend to archive the RealAudio broadcast of the memorial on their web page at http://www.light99.com. As it is three hours of audio it will take some time to process the three-part one hour long files. This will provide an excellent opportunity to hear the memorial, especially for those who tried unsuccessfully to log in to the live Internet feed, and those that were unable to make it to Wichita.

Canticle Of The Plains

While we're discussing the subject of memorials and closure, it occured to me yesterday that attending the Canticle of the Plains performance at Friends University this weekend would be (and will be again for me) a wonderful way to deal with those emotions. I just spent a couple hours yesterday with Kevin and Nicole-Capri Brocksieck, of Tapestry Performing Arts, as part of a story I'm preparing on this performance. Nicole is theatrical director and choreographer, and Kevin has filled as St Frank, since Mitch is still recovering from the accident. If by any chance you can make it to Wichita, I would highly recommend contacting the Better Book Room as soon as possible for tickets. They can be reached on the Internet at http://www.betterbookroom.com/, and by phone at 800-678-6119. The performances are October 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m., and October 11 at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m., with the Thursday evening performance being a benefit dedicated to Rich. Tickets will be available at the door if there are any seats left, but no guarantee. After seeing part of the rehearsal and knowing what I already know of the musical - how Rich's heart and soul are part of this - I expect to be as touched by this performance as anything else Rich was involved in. If you are already coming, and have not yet gotten your tickets, Nicole wanted me to tell you to please be sure you have made arrangements to pick up your tickets.

In closing, I want to take this opportunity to again thank all of you who have written to me expressing your prayers of support and your appreciation for this mailing list and web page. I wish I could respond to each and every one, but please accept my heartfelt thanks for your notes. They have helped me tremendously.
