I visited with Doug McVicker tonight, and Mitch continues to make good progress in his healing process. The main reason I called him was to confirm that Mitch's birthday was this week (I couldn't remember what day it was).
Mitch's 25th birthday is this Saturday, November 8th

Mitch's balance has improved a lot. As a matter of fact, Doug said that Mitch is jogging now as part of his therapy, although it is limited since too much jogging starts to hurt his head. They have a treadmill at home, and Mitch is able to walk on it without holding on for extended periods. These positive improvements so soon after the accident are very encouraging, since the quicker you heal and improve after sustaining injuries like this, the better chance you have for complete recovery.
He is playing guitar quite a bit, and there doesn't seem to be any finger dexterity problems, however his latest concern is his voice. After such a serious accident, a collapsed lung, extended periods with intubation (tubes down the throat before regaining consciousness), pneumonia, and just general trauma - I'm not surprised it's not what it used to be. However Mitch is still concerned. They will be seeing a specialist this week to determine if there is anything they really need to be concerned about, or if this is just normal trauma that will heal with time.
Please continue to pray that Mitch will experience God's complete healing power, and specifically that his voice will improve and heal, so that he may once again sing God's praises. Also continue to pray for Doug and Wendy, Mitch's parents, as they deal with the added stress of this long process of caring for Mitch as he heals. Life is hard enough without these extra hassles and trying times, but God does not give us more than we can bear.
There have been many expressing concerns about not being able to find a carrier for the Lightmusic Rich Mullins Tribute. The following is from Rose Capanna.
We set up a station guide for LIGHTMUSIC so folks can see if the tribute will be shown in their area. We've also listed stations that carry CTV programming but don't carry LIGHTMUSIC (which is produced by CTV). If people want, they can call and ask the non-carriers to show LIGHTMUSIC, even if it's just for this special two-part tribute. There's no guarantee that they'll carry the tribute, but it might be worth a shot: http://www.dhp.com/~ashley/lightmusic Non-carrier WHNO in New Orleans has already called LIGHTMUSIC and is going to review the tribute for possible broadcast, thanks to a call-in campaign begun by a subscriber of the This Train mailing list. Take care. Peace, Rose

It drew people from Colorado, Minnesota, Ohio and Chicago, along with neighbors and a few Nashville friends. Friday was a mix of laughter and tears, we all rocked on the porch with our various memories and cried at various times, but mostly we all felt "Rich". Sat. we celebrated Richs life at the "old church" just down the road where Rich used to go to be alone or compose and mostly to show his friends. A few people talked, Kathy Snyder played guitar and we again laughed and cried. We went back to the house and ate the wonderful food Connie and alot of other folks had prepared and ate B.B.Q. and all the fixings from Richs favorite hometown restaraunt "The Pit". I left with the image that Kathy had given as Rich, just never being comfortable here on earth, restless, and when she saw a hawk soaring, she thought, thats Rich telling me "I'm free, I'm where I've wanted to be, and guess who my co-writer is now!?
