Hi Rich Fans,
Mitch has progressed very well on his road to recovery. As a matter of fact, he is even traveling. He was able to get down to Nashville last week to visit with the Ragamuffins as they recorded the new music by Rich. His singing voice is still not up to par, and I have no info on whether or not he participated in any other way on the recording. The specialist who saw Mitch said that his vocal cords are OK, however he is just not getting the support he needs from his collapsed (but now healing) lung for singing. He is continuing to heal there, too. His balance is good (now jogs outside), and his therapy has decreased to only once a week. He still is struggling a bit with blurred vision. Though the healing is slow enough that it doesn't "feel" like it's getting better, the opthamologist says his vision is getting better.
The day of the horrible accident, Mitch and Rich had just left Roswell East Studio as they finished up most of the recording process of Mitch's new solo CD. Many have asked when it will be released. First a rough mix will be made to shop the recording, but Mitch has a vocal track he wants to re-record, and that will be a while yet as his voice heals. There was also the situation that Rich was co-producing this project with Mark Robertson, so now the project is in Mark's capable hands to finish. I have also received questions about whether songs Mitch performed this past summer that have not previously been recorded would be on this new CD. I'm not sure about all, but I know that at least one many asked about by name, "If You're Ever In New Mexico", is on that recording. That song was co-written by Mitch and Rich.
Other good news - Mitch came back to Wichita yesterday to visit his friend, Eric Hauck, who was appearing here, and is touring with Rebecca St James. I was unable to attend, and have not talked to anyone that did, so I'm not sure if Mitch made an apperance, or just attended in cognito. He was also visiting with Michael Aukofer, who has returned home to Wichita for the holidays from Nashville where he has been since the Canticle performance at Friends last October.
Please continue to pray for Mitch and his family, especially in this holiday as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Also, Mitch's sister Andrea is getting married this weekend, and we pray that this blessed event will go smoothly. Pray that stress levels that are typically already heightened in this season, are not increased too much.
We also need to continue to remember Rich's family and friends who will certainly be touched with mixed emotions this Christmas season.
Pray that God's will be done, for He certainly is in control.
